What a retainer costs, and the five things that decide it

Every retainer names the number of articles, links and pages you get each month, the minimum term, and the month we expect the goal to land. Two rate lists, one for clients invoiced in dollars and one for Nigerian clients invoiced in naira, and the naira list is not the dollar list converted.

International

$1,500 to $7,000 a month

Clients invoiced in US dollars: the UK, Europe, Hong Kong, the US and anywhere outside Nigeria.

SEO audit

$750

Content strategy

$2,500

Invoiced in US dollars. The minimum term is one month on the entry retainer and three months above it, then month to month.

NIGERIA

Given on the call

Nigerian companies invoiced in naira, at the local rate rather than a conversion of the dollar price.

SEO audit

On request

Content strategy

On request

Invoiced in naira at the local rate. It is a separate list, not the dollar price converted: the delivery, the cost base and the currency exposure are different. Because most of the tooling is billed in dollars, the naira list is reviewed every quarter and the rate in your proposal is held for its term.

Two lists, not one price converted. Which one applies is decided by where you are invoiced, and the figure in your proposal is held for the term.

What moves the figure

Five things decide where you land in the range

None of them is a surprise, and all of them are settled before you sign. If a proposal ever names a number without saying which of these it is answering, ask.

How much has to be written each month

Four pieces a month and sixteen are different programmes, not the same programme at two speeds. This is the single biggest driver, and it is the one you control.

Whether links are part of it

Outreach is people writing to editors. A retainer with six to eight placements a month costs more than one with none, and the difference is roughly what the outreach itself costs.

How much technical work the site needs first

A site Google renders fine starts on content in week two. One that does not, as UPay did not, spends its first month on the fix list, and that month is included rather than billed on top.

One market or several

A second language or country doubles the keyword map and the calendar, so it sits at the top of the range rather than in the middle.

Where you are invoiced

Nigerian clients are on the naira list, which is a different rate and not a conversion. Nothing about the work changes; the cost base does.

In every retainer

What you never have to ask for

Your accounts, your data

Search Console, Analytics and the rank tracker are set up in accounts you own. If you ever leave, the history goes with you.

Named writers, not a pool

A named writer who has read your product and your competitors writes every article, and the SEO lead edits it before it reaches you.

Fixed monthly output

The retainer names the number of articles, links and pages each month. You see the calendar before the month starts and the delivery against it at the end.

A report you can read

One page a month: traffic, rankings, leads, what we shipped and what we recommend next. No 40-page export from a tool.

Two-week revision window

Every piece can be revised twice within two weeks of delivery, and small changes after that are done on the next call.

Month-to-month after the minimum

Foundation has a one-month minimum; Growth and Scale three months. After that, 30 days’ notice ends the retainer, and nothing is held back.

Growth

Eight pieces and two refreshes a month, six to eight links, landing pages, a shared dashboard and a fortnightly call. Three-month minimum.

Three promises

Written into every proposal

A number in writing

Every proposal names the goal and the month we expect to reach it, based on your current traffic and the keyword map. If the plan changes, the number changes in writing too.

No traffic without a purpose

We report leads and revenue where you can measure them, and we drop keywords that bring visits and nothing else.

You own everything

Content, accounts, dashboards and the keyword map are yours from day one. Nothing sits in a Contentika login you cannot open.

Pricing questions

Before you decide

Technical fixes show in Search Console within weeks. New articles usually start ranking in month two or three, and the results in our case studies took four to five months. We put the expected month in the proposal.

Retainers run from $1,500 to $7,000 a month for clients invoiced in dollars, and the range is on the pricing page with the five things that decide where a programme lands in it. Nigerian clients are priced in naira on a separate local list, not a conversion of the dollar figure, and we give you that list on the call. An SEO audit and a content strategy are also sold as one-off projects.

No, and nobody honest does. We guarantee the work: the audit, the articles, the links and the pages named in the retainer, every month, and we put the expected result and its month in writing.

You do, from the moment it is delivered, including drafts and images. We ask only to list you as a client and, with permission, to write a case study.

One page: organic traffic, rankings for the terms that matter, leads or revenue from organic where tracked, what we shipped against the calendar, and three recommendations. It arrives on the first business day of the month with a 30-minute call.
